Welcome to Teacher2Mother2Runner...
We have all taught someone. Whether it was children, adults, a family member, a friend, or even a stranger, we have all shared something with the world. As mothers, we now teach every day. We constantly have people who depend on us to love, help, and support them. This is the place where we can finally put ourselves first. Our Mission is to run to be stronger…for everyone.
Quote of the Day:
"Running has given me the courage to start, the determination to keep trying, and the childlike spirit to have fun along the way. Run often and run long, but never outrun your joy of running." Julie Isphording, winner of the 1990 Los Angeles Marathon
Morning Announcements
New Blog...
With race season in full swing, the idea of slowing is like driving in reverse from our need for speed. However, Alyssa tells us in this week's blog that sometimes the better pace is really a slower one.

1. Why do you run?
I never excelled at sports during my childhood. After I graduated from college I decided to try running. It was a sport I could do alone, there was little equipment necessary, and there was little risk of embarrassment as I tried it for the first time. Once I met and married my husband, I ran because I knew it was something he valued (he has run 13 ultra-marathons) and that we could enjoy together. However, I have not run at all in the last 4 years. These days I get my exercise pushing our double-stroller around the neighborhood.
2. What has been the best advice given to you about running?
My husband gave me lots of good advice, and I read a lot of good books and articles about running. I'm a big fan of Hal Higdon and his schedules that break a big goal into small daily tasks. But really it all came down to "Get up, get dressed, get out, and keep putting one foot in front of the other."
3. How are you connected to education?
I taught middle school art for four years, and have my master's degree in art education. I also taught English in Langfang, China for two years. I still substitute-teach or teach private lessons occasionally.
4. What is the hardest thing about running? What is the easiest thing about running?
The hardest thing about running is the mental aspect. No matter how far I run, I can still remember my childhood full of athletic failures. With children, it is also difficult to make time to run. The easiest thing about running is buying shoes! Nothing else about running has been easy for me.
5. If you could run anywhere in the world where would you run? Why?
I think I would run somewhere beautiful and FLAT. After running a marathon on the Great Wall of China, I decided that if I ever ran another marathon it would be on flat ground.
